Disaster Management Demonstration was held in Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson school

 

Jammu, May 16: A civil defence and disaster management demonstration was held in Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson school by Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) J&K unit. The demonstrations was witnessed by thousands of school children & teaching staff of the schools. Speaking on the occasion Sh. Asgar Samoon, IAS Commissioner Srinagar cum Controller Civil Defence Srinagar highligted the importance of holding such demonstrations in educational institutions and said that in case of disaster or natural calamity these school children can play a vital role for managing disasters.Chief guest Sh. Navin Agarwal IGP Civil defence J&K, said that such civil defence awareness programmes have become essential in view of the seismic zoning of the valley in general and Srinagar town in particular and the civil defence is organizing such programmes from time to time as the organization is imparting training to wardens/ volunteers in educational institutions and shall continue in future as well to prepare the masses through training and awareness programmes. Gh.Mustafa Bhat, Mayor SMC Srinagar in his address appreciated the organizers and said that such awareness camps should also be held in the Govt. schools as well.

Those present on the occasion were Sh.Gh.Sarwar chouhan S.O. to IGP HG/CD J&K , Retd.DC Sh.G.N.Mir, Dr.G.M.Dar of IMPA, Sh.Mouzam Bakshi Dy.Chief warden CD Srinagar and other NGOs.
