Mountain Search & Rescue Course at Pahalgam
Srinagar July 11: Under the instructions of Sh.Navin Agarwal, IPS, Inspector General of Police Homeguards/Civil Defence/ Aux. Police, J&K Srinagar. Civil Defence wardens of Srinagar and Anantnag towns have attended three days training course in Mountain Search and Rescue at Jawahar Institute of Mountaincering, Pahalgam w.e.f. 07-7-2006 to 09-07-2006 in which eight wardens of Srinagar town and five wardens of Anantnag town have participated. The wardens were trained in the following events:
- Rock climbing.
- Rippling.
- Alpine tent pitching.
- River crossing
- Mountain rope knots and hitches.
- Avalanche rescue.
- Base making.

Tyrolean traverse & casualty evacuation.
- Mountain maladies.
Lt. Col. A.S. Shekhawat, Principal inaugurated the course. Sh.H.K.Lohia, IPS, DIG Anantnag was the chief guest at the valedictory function. He appreciated the initiative taken by IGP Homeguards I Civil Defence in getting his wardens / volunteers trained for search and rescue in rnountainous terrain.
