Programme on Disaster Management for J&K Police Personnel of Kathua District

Jammu August 24: As desired by Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K Sh.Ghulam Nabi Azad and as per the orders of DGP J&K Sh.Gopal Sharma, training in Disaster Management to police personnels of J&K is imparted by the central training institute of Homeguards/ Civil defence Jammu/Srinagar.

CTI Jammu cater to training needs of Jammu province. The training programme in Disaster Management for police personnel of J&K was started by imparting training to Police Personnel of District Police Jammu & Border. Now on the directions of Sh.Navin Agarwal IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K, Police personnel of Kathua District are imparted training in Disaster Management at DPL Kathua w.e.f 21st August 2006. The inaugural function of which was held today at DPL Kathua.

Sh.J.P.Singh SSP Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion. He expressed gratitute for Sh.Navin Agarwal IGP for starting training in his district. As Disaster now a days are happening frequently and there is dire need of trained people to face the disaster effectively. He also appreciated the CTI instructors who gave demonstration on the occasion. He exhorted upon trainees to remain punctual, sincere & work with devotion to imbibe these civil defence skills during the training periods.

After the inauguration, civil defence instructors of CTI Jammu gave a demonstration. During the week long training course guest speakers from other departments will also deliver lecture and Police personnels will be trained in rescue operation, first aid, fire fighting & precautions to be taken during disasters viz floods, earthquake, accidents, WMDs, Landslide etc. Similar training programme will also be organised in other police districts in near future.

Prominent among those present were Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma SP DAR, Sh.Nirmal Singh Dy.SP, Sh.Raina (Rtd.Dy.SP), all senior wardens & volunteers besides prominent citizens
