Civil Defence flagged off rally and inauguration of Health centre

Jammu December 2nd: The week long Civil Defence celebrations commenced here with a students rally from Gandhi Nagar Gole Market Jammu. Sh.P.S.Gill, IPS Additional Director General of Police J&K flagged off the rally of 1500 students drawn from local schools and colleges of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh.Gill said that students can play a pivotal role in disseminating the message of civil defence for mutual peaceful co-existence, helping the poor and needy, facing the calamity conditions, fire-fighting, maintaining law and discipline and helping the society in a broader sense. He said that in a civilized democratic country like India Civil Defence has to perform multidimensional activities including maintenance of aesthetics, health, hygiene, cleanliness and greenery for ecological balance in the areas.
The ADGP asked the students and civil defence functionaries to motivate every individual and mobilize the opinion of the public in general for helping themselves and defending their own life and property. He called upon various NGOs to come forward and take part in various activities of civil defence. He also eulogized the Homeguards and Auxiliary Police for their contribution toward the civil defence.
Sh.Navin Agarwal,IPS Inspector General of Police Civil Defence J&K received the rally, which culminated at Gulshan Ground after passing through vikram chowk and university road. He said that during the week long celebrations, a number of activities including sports meet, parade, demonstration, would also be held besides, seminars and other activities.
Later on, Sh.Agarwal also inaugurated a health club at Aux. Police Lines Jammu. The club is equipped with latest gymnasium items.
The function among others was also attended by Sh.C.L.Banal (Retd.IGP), Sh.Gulzar Singh Slathia DIG Armed, Sh.Mukesh Singh SSP Jammu, Sh.Jugal Mahajan chief warden, Sh.Paramjit Kumar, Sh.Vinod Malhotra Dy.Chief Warden, Sh.Bansi Lal Gupta, Sh.Dinesh Gupta, Sh.J.L.Sharma, Smt.Kanta Bhan Dy.Divisional Warden, Sh.Nirmal Singh Dy.SP, Smt.Manjit Kour Dy.SP, Mohd.Taj Dy.SP, Sh.K.K.Sharma Dy.SP, Sh.T.R.Rana Dy.SP, Sh.P.D.Sharma Dy.SP, Sh.D.R.Bhagat Dy.SP, Sh.Sudershan Kumar Dy.SP besides large number of wardens, volunteers, school teachers and prominent citizens. The children who took part in the rally came from JK Public School, Shiksha Niketan, Tagore Academy, D.B.N. School, Govt. Higher Sec. School Mubarak mandi and other leading schools of Jammu.
