Divisional Commissioner appreciates rescue work done by Civil Defence, Srinagar

 

We recently faced peculiar situation due to continued closure of the Srinagar – Jammu National Highway for a period of twelve days. We has to requisition the services of Airforce for airlifting essential supplies like milk, vegetables, egg etc. On 21st March 2007, flood alert was sounded as the water level of Sangam crossed the danger level.

On both these occasions, this office requisitioned the services of Civil Defence and Homegurads volunteers to support the Divisional Administration. The volunteers formed rescue teams in flood hit areas of Nowgam, Bemina, Padshahi Bagh, Wunbal, Nehru Park and Sharief-abad etc.

In this context I would like to place on record the commendable services put in by the officers of Homeguards and Civil Defence.
