Award Distribution Ceremony cum Civil Defence Awareness Camp

 

Srinagar, May 11th: An Award Distribution Ceremony cum Civil Defence Awareness Camp was organized on May 10th 2007, under the chairmanship of Shri Navin Agarwal, IGP, Civil Defence, in which more than 300 wardens and volunteers were present. The following dignitaries witnessed/ participated in the function:

4. Shri M.A. Danposh, Commandant Aux 1st Bn

6. Shri Amir Ali, Project Coordinator, UNDP

At the outset Sh. Mauzam Bakshi, Dy. Chief Warden, CD highlighted the activities of Civil Defence which were carried out during winter months in the valley and on account of which not only the public but the Divisional Administration had a word of praise. Col. S.S. Raghav in his speech threw light about the role of NCC Cadets during disasters and emphasized the need for closer co-ordination between NCC and Civil Defence. Shri. Amir Ali while appraising the volunteers about the scope of UNDP programmes thanked the Civil Defence organization on behalf of Divisional Administration for the assistance provided on certain occasions particularly during “Operation Hamsafar”.

In his concluding speech Shri Navin Agarwal, IGP while expressing satisfaction on the progress achieved by Civil Defence, in the day today activities and cordial relationship with NGO’s and other agencies. Shri Navin Agarwal exhorted upon the volunteers to take active part in the Civil Defence activities in future also. He presented cash rewards and commendation certificates to the CD wardens/ volunteers in recognition of extra-ordinary commendable work done during recent unprecedented floods, etc. On this occasion staff officer to IGP and Commandant 1st Bn. Also presented cash rewards to some volunteers of Lawaypora post.
