Srinagar, June 16th: On June 12, 2007 one day Civil Defence seminar has been organized by the Civil Defence organisation in the Auditorium of IMPA Srinagar under the president ship of Shri Navin Agarwal, IPS, IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K – Srinagar. The notable persons who attended the seminar were :- Sh.G.S.Saini, Director Civil Defence Training College Nagpur ; Sh. S.A. Khan, Rtd. IGP ; Sh.Farooq Ahmed, DIG Kashmir; Sh.R.A.Dar, IPS Rtd. DIG; Sh.Feroz Ahmed Rtd.Comdt. Aux. Police; Sh.Reyaz Bazer, IPS SSP SBK; Sh.S.A.Syed IPS, SSP CID; Ms.Shahzada Mir, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Kothibagh ; Sh.Aamir Ali (UNDP); Representatives of Health institutions and colleges.
IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K Srinagar in his welcome address threw light on the aims and objectives of the seminar. He said civil defence organisation is imparting CD basic training to the citizens/students to as to prepare them to help the needy at the time of disasters and other natural calamities.
Sh.G.S.Saini presented a presentation on “Challenges for Civil Defence in assisting state Govt to Manage Disaster”. He elaborated the initiatives taken by the state civil defence, during 2005 earthquakes and floods. He stressed that awareness on preventive measures constitute to double the efforts and sense of commitments which is key of future success of the awareness compaign launched by the organisation. During day long seminar detailed question answer session were also held in which good number of civil defence volunteers participated.
Principal, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh in her address expressed satisfaction about the awareness compaign launched by the civil defence organisation. She thanked the department for organizing such a meaningful seminar.
