WATER RESCUE QRT LAUNCHED AT DAL LAKE CIVIL DEFENCE RESCUE TEAM SAVED HUMAN LIVES AT SRINAGAR

Srinagar, June 2nd: A strong wind swept Srinagar on 01-06-2009 and damaged several Shikaras and House Boats in Dal Lake. As soon as information was received, Water Rescue (QRT) of Civil Defence/ Aux.Police swing into action and conducted joint rescue operation in Dal Lake with Fire and Emergency teams. Nearly 30 tourists had fallen into the lake after Boats over-turned due to high velocity wind. However a family of four members of Udhampur fell into the Lake in which Mr.M.C.Dubey, Dy.Chief Conservator died and his others family members were saved.

Among others, Sh.G.A.Bhat, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar, Sh. Aamir Ali, I/C DDMC and Sh.Mauzam Bakshi, Dy.Chief Warden were also present during the rescue operation.
