Jammu, January, 10th: Traffic awareness camp was organized by Civil Defence Jammu at Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Digiana Jammu on 9th January 2010. Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS, IGP, HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 2500 students and teaching staff witnessed the function and were acquainted with the traffic rules. Sh.Khalil-ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu highlighted the achievements and role of Civil Defence during disaster. The instructors of Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu gave live demonstration on various Fire Fighting and rescue techniques.
While speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest stressed upon the students and people to join Civil Defence as Civil Defence volunteers. He asked the people to come forward in an emergent situations during any natural or man-made disasters and provide help to the victims. He asked the people to work hand-in-hand in law & order situation for upholding peace in society particularly at the time of calamities. He also said that organizing the awareness programmes for the students/teaching staff is essential in modern scenario.

Sh.P.R.Manhas, IPS, DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the role and importance of Civil Defence as Fist disaster responder. Among prominent citizen, other officers/ Civil Defence wardens/volunteers were also present on the occasion.
